Japanese IT services company NTT Data reported $634 million in data center investment during the April-June 2026 period, alongside $733 million in data center sales.
The company, part of the NTT Group, reported total net sales of $8 billion for the quarter, representing a 15.8% year-over-year increase. Net new orders rose 29.7% to $9.15 billion, while operating profit increased 9% to $398 million. The company’s overall operating margin was 5%.
Data center sales of $733 million represented an operating margin of 33%, according to the company.
“Japan is in the midst of the most consequential economic transition in a generation,” said Kazuhiko Nakayama, recently appointed president and CEO of NTT Data Group.
“The corporate landscape is being reshaped by consolidation, renewed investment, and a fundamental shift in pricing models. For a company of our scale, this shift changes the calculus on everything from capital allocation to how we price our services and where we choose to invest for growth,” the executive added.
Nakayama also pointed to complex global market conditions, including U.S. policy uncertainty, European regulatory complexity and the push toward AI adoption among enterprise customers.
Despite these factors, he said the results demonstrated continued and healthy demand from customers to “modernize operations, accelerate transformation, and enter the next phase of AI adoption.”
He added that NTT Data remains confident in executing its long-term growth strategy and expanding its AI services.
In April, NTT Data had announced the official opening of its Keihanna OSK11 Data Center in Kyoto, Japan. Designed as a next generation, AI ready facility, OSK11 incorporates advanced, high efficiency cooling technologies and global engineering standards to support growing demand for cloud and AI workloads. The facility, operated by NTT Global Data Centers (GDC), strengthened digital infrastructure in the Kansai region, according to NTT Data.
Strategically located in the Osaka-Kyoto corridor, OSK11 delivers 30MW of IT capacity and provides a scalable platform for both hyperscalers and enterprise customers, the firm added.
The company currently operates more than 2GW of data center capacity across 160 facilities in 20 markets globally, including the U.S., EMEA and APAC.
