Netmore continues its acquisition streak with the purchase of Spain’s Arson Metering, which James Blackman describes as “the last LoRaWAN operator with a truly global network strategy.” The deal adds 500,000 smart water and gas deployments to Netmore’s portfolio, reinforcing its vertical strength in utilities while supporting its LoRaWAN-based ambitions across Europe for utility automation and scaled metering.

Reporting from Shanghai, Juan Pedro covers Huawei’s first Data Center Innovation Summit, where the company highlighted compute clusters, data lakes, and elastic facilities to keep pace with exploding AI workloads. The event offered a clear signal of Huawei’s push to position itself at the center of global AI-infrastructure development.

And in the U.S., Verizon’s latest Public Safety Communications Survey shows where first responders are focusing investments: Resilience and reliability top the list, AI adoption is projected to reach 46%, and more than two-thirds are upgrading cybersecurity defenses. The findings, particularly those around security, underscore growing urgency around protecting mission-critical networks — urgency reinforced by events in New York this week. Authorities there disrupted a massive telecom fraud operation just blocks from the UN Assembly, seizing more than 100,000 SIM cards and 300+ servers in a scheme that could have interfered with cell towers, emergency calls, and even 911 services.

The takedown highlights how vulnerable communications infrastructure remains, even as operators and vendors worldwide work to expand coverage, scale capacity, and deploy next-generation technologies.
