5G ALL AROUND

5G is expanding footprints all across the globe. In the US, AT&T made a new milestone with the nationwide rollout of 5G Standalone (SA). Network CTO, Yigal Elbaz said that the move will “set the stage for next generation applications and services.” In Malaysia, YTL Communications announced that it has rolled out a 5G-Advanced (5G-A) service, claiming to be the nation’s first carrier of 5G-A service. According to reports, BSNL is also set to upgrade all 4G towers with 5G in the next eight months, starting with those in Delhi and Mumbai.

Eric Zhao, VP and CMO of Huawei Wireless Network Product Line, captured the developments in an interview with RCR Wireless, saying that from this point on, the mobile communication industry will be shaped by the convergence of 5G-A deployments and artificial intelligence. The impacts of these on the test and measurement market will be profound as demand for fiber inspection, 5G network validation and compliance testing intensify in effect. As we watch this space, here is what’s new today.
