Space to silicon
In Mexico, Viasat demoed smartphone connectivity via satellite first. Using direct-to-device SMS messaging over its I-4 F3 satellite, the operator showcased its native messaging and push-to-talk capabilities, a push towards closing connectivity blindspots in remote areas underserved by traditional wireless services. The milestone underscores the growing role of test and measurement in satellite connectivity.
Meanwhile, the launch date for its much-anticipated ViaSat-3 Flight 2 satellite is drawing closer. The Ka-band is expected to deliver 2x bandwidth capacity compared to Viasat’s existing systems.
In Malaysia, Digital Nasional Berhad has been namedthe first mobile operator in the world to achieve validation from TM Forum of Level 4 autonomy for Service Assurance. The validation highlights DNB’s readiness to support industrial and enterprise-grade services across the country, and Malaysia’s growing leadership in 5G connectivity.
