At MWC, AI rises above the rest

Home RCR Wireless News At MWC, AI rises above the rest

As Mobile World Congress 2026 draws to a close, one theme has clearly risen above the rest: The telecom industry is repositioning itself around artificial intelligence — not just as a workload, but as the organizing principle for future networks.

Across the show floor and keynote stage, operators, vendors, and hyperscalers outlined how infrastructure, software, and connectivity must evolve to support an AI-driven economy. AT&T detailed its “connected AI” vision for bringing intelligence from cloud data centers to industrial edge environments, while Orange emphasized the growing importance of trusted infrastructure — and the crucial role telcos play — as the foundation for AI-powered services.

Networks themselves must also change to support new AI experiences. Qualcomm’s vision of how AI agents is reshaping the mobile ecosystem, as well as a host of new demonstrations of AI-RAN testing frameworks and agentic AI platforms for telecom operations, reveals that the next phase of telecom innovation will be defined by how effectively networks enable, distribute, and manage intelligence.
