Wi-Fi in army camps and sports venues

Home RCR Wireless News Wi-Fi in army camps and sports venues

Something and nothing, but worth memorializing – especially after all the policy talk about sovereignty. Wi-Fi is increasingly proving itself not just as a convenience layer, but as core infrastructure in high-demand enterprise environments where reliability, density, and performance are non-negotiable.

Boingo Wireless’ deployment for the US Marine Corps at Camp Blaz in Guam shows how modern Wi-Fi supports mission-critical operations, training, and communications in a secure military setting. This is not consumer connectivity scaled up, but engineered networking designed for operational readiness, resilience, and distributed teams working in real time.

Meanwhile, at Levi’s Stadium, Comcast Business is demonstrating how high-capacity Wi-Fi and fibre backbones are now central to stadium operations and fan experience. From live broadcast support to real-time digital engagement for tens of thousands of attendees, connectivity has become part of the event infrastructure itself.

Wi-Fi is no longer supplementary. In dense, high-stakes environments, it is an urgent fabric for coordination, data flow, and experience delivery across both public and private sectors. Of course, private 5G is, too – for different things, in different ways.

Powering Sovereign AI at Scale
AI is central to telecom and national infrastructure, but must be secure, compliant and sovereign. Read this white paper to see how AI Factories enable trusted scale and new revenue.

Beyond the Headlines

Extinction or evolution: Autonomous networks are exposing the limits of legacy OSS for static infrastructure. Telcos need an ontology-driven control layer to unify data, govern automation, and orchestrate operations at scale – says Blue Planet.

‘Crazy’ ideas for VCs: Cerebras shares how its unconventional wafer-scale AI chip strategy is winning venture teams, arguing that backing “crazy” technical ideas requires long-term conviction, capital patience, and belief in step-change compute.

EMEA fuels 5G core: Dell’Oro says 5G core network growth accelerated outside China in the first quarter as EMEA and North America expanded, as operators increasingly pursue cloud-native architectures and 5G SA deployments.

Huawei targets AI infra: Chinese vendor Huawei has introduced new AI data center tech focused on storage, inference acceleration, orchestration, and resilience as enterprises expand AI workloads and hyperscale deployments.

Bridging the divide: As telcos embrace D2D, the industry is moving closer to closing persistent coverage gaps, extending resilient mobile access to remote regions, and ensuring geography no longer determines access to connectivity.
