Korea Tech Day focused on open-sourcing the entire AI factory
Today’s “2026 OCP Korea Tech Day“ focused on “open-sourcing” the entire AI factory, featuring real-world examples like Nvidia’s MGX rack, Meta and AMD’s 42-inch Open Rack Wide, and the multi-path networking technology MRC from OpenAI and Microsoft.
In its 8th year, the show was hosted by the Open Compute Project Foundation and the OCP Korea Community, and focused on key pillars, such as:
- AI Factory & Open Rack Standards – The Open Compute Project moved beyond hardware specifications to open-source entire cluster deployment methodologies. This includes standardized guidelines for power distribution, high-density thermal management, and rapid factory-to-datacenter integration.
- Advanced Cooling Solutions: Google’s Open-Source CDU Design was featured as part of its Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) design. In addition, Meta and AMD led discussions around the rapid expansion of the 42-inch Open Rack Wide (ORW) ecosystem for next-gen GW-scale AI infrastructure.
- Infrastructure & Reliability Blueprints: VESSL AI leaders expressed that data center success is dictated by how many tokens can be extracted from physical inputs (silicon, power, capital) rather than the sheer volume of GPUs possessed. It also revealed operational frameworks for 300MW AI factories, focusing on multi-cluster control planes and token-yield optimization for high-density GPU arrays.
