The companies will also evaluate adaptive AMD technologies for edge AI in telecom and enterprise environments
In sum – what to know:
Strategic partnership – e& UAE and AMD will collaborate on AI infrastructure, exploring the use of EPYC processors, Instinct GPUs, and adaptive edge solutions for secure, scalable deployments.
Sustainability, skills – The agreement includes plans for energy-efficient design, workforce training, and AI lab initiatives aligned with the UAE’s digital transformation goals.
Emirati-based telco e& UAE has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with AMD to explore advanced AI use cases and infrastructure solutions. The firm said the deal will support e& UAE’s goal of leading digital transformation across the UAE, with a focus on sustainability, security, and local skills development.
Building on its existing use of AMD’s EPYC processors, the collaboration will assess the potential of AMD Instinct GPUs and the ROCm software suite for secure AI deployments. The companies will also evaluate adaptive AMD technologies for edge AI in telecom and enterprise environments, as well as Ryzen AI processors for end-user applications.
Marwan Bin Shakar, acting chief technology and information officer at e& UAE, said: “e& UAE is committed to AI that is open, secure, and aligned to the UAE’s digital transformation. With AMD, we are evaluating EPYC processors, Instinct GPUs, and ROCm software to design a secure and efficient AI infrastructure with a lower total cost of ownership and exploring adaptive edge solutions, as well as AMD Ryzen AI processor-based devices. We will focus on measurable outcomes for customers, improving efficiency and accelerating the path from pilot to production.”
As part of the agreement, the pair will also explore joint AI labs, training programs, and partner engagement initiatives to accelerate innovation within the country’s AI ecosystem. “This collaboration represents a strategic alignment between e& UAE and AMD to accelerate AI innovation across the UAE and beyond,” said Philip Guido, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at AMD.
The UAE is active in the AI infrastructure space, with US tech giants Nvidia, Cisco, Oracle, and OpenAI currently backing the so-called ‘UAE Stargate’ artificial intelligence (AI) data center project, according to previous reports. Nvidia is to provide its latest Blackwell GB300 systems for the project. The setup is projected to align with the parallel US Stargate initiative, a domestic AI infrastructure project introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump following his inauguration in January.
Located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, UAE Stargate will be developed by Emirati tech firm G42.The data center campus will cover 10 square miles and have a total capacity of 5 gigawatts.
